Welcome to lindyland - my oil painted kingdom inhabited by a distinct cast of characters, ranging from the musical gnomes to one-horned horses. These creatures inhabit ice cream landscapes and upside down forests. These beings have one common attribute, the gateway eye. the left eye bulging from their roundish heads is the entrance to the dreamer world, where the viewer is beckoned to begin their journey. once they enter, their subconscious takes over and whirls them around in an adventurous ride. I use repetition to guide the flow, causing the paintings to retain a peacefully balanced composition. The palette in which I have been working is quite vivid, representing the essence of the fruitful garden, the ultimate explosion of abundance. the radiant colors cause the surfaces to glow their own energy. My work is about encountering the innocence in the human experience that is inherent in all of us. The characters represent the awakened dreamers that see through the ugliness, and right to the heart. With their nearly expressionless faces, they seem to be caught in the moment of epiphany, observing the world with wonder, as if each peice of color glowed with the truth of the universe. In each of these creations, I bend forth my spiritual experience that is intended to unite us all in our own personal dreamworld. I created "Lindyland" as an offering of peace. These paintings are my eternal quest for healing, represented by magical characters that bring compassion, light, and love. All viewers are welcome to create their own stories, drawing from their dream world or waking life, using "Lindyland" as their sacred landscape. |
